Ceramic & Pottery Craft:

The pottery trade has been associated with the being of man since ancient times. The homes of Algerians are not empty of pottery which is a symbol of authenticity and history, where it is considered one of the traditional industries. We don’t find a region in Algeria that does not make pottery or purchase it in its homes for use and decoration.

Ceramic is glassy pottery, therefore the process of making ceramics is the same as the process of making pottery with all its stages, up to the stage of the first burning. The difference in the manufacture of ceramics is after the stage of the first burning or potting, where the burnt pottery pot is immersed in a specific glassy liquid to block all the openings in it and to make it water-resistant. In addition to giving it a smooth glassy texture. Than the container is lifted from the glass liquid and left to dry naturally, and then placed in the oven to burn it a second time under certain temperature. Finally, it produces smooth, soft and shiny products such as: vases, teacups, plates and small antiques.
